Queer Programs

drummond street has a great history of service to the Queer* Community. A commitment to this community began several decades ago, and sets drummond street in a position as an integral service provider and advocate for the recognition, rights and needs of the Queer community and their families.

The Queer community represents approximately 20% of our clients at drummond street, and we have clear objectives about how we support this community, and the way we do it. We support individuals to be their best, and also see ourselves as having an important role in regard to strengthening the Queer community as a whole. We approach community strengthening through work with individuals and groups, advocacy and lobbying, and responding to research around health needs and issues identified as being highly relevant for the Queer community.

We have a whole of family/community approach. So you might contact us as a parent of a young Queer person, or a couple looking for support, as a single parent, or as someone questioning their sexuality. You might come for personal counselling, parenting classes, seminars, or to join a facilitated group.

Have a look below at some of our services, check out the calendar to see what is on when, or, have a chat about your needs with Queer community services coordinator Jacinta, on 96636733.

*We intentionally use the word Queer as an inclusive, unifying umbrella term for people who might otherwise be identified as gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, or trans-gendered – or any non-heterosexual sexual identity, sexual anatomy or gender identity.
