At drummond street we don’t care how your family is made up, we think all families are equally important. Our aim is to provide all families with recognition, celebration and support.

We know that Queer families can face issues that are specific to their families. They also face the same issues that all families deal with! Some Rainbow families might choose to come to some of our parenting sessions – we offer a wide range of practical, evidence based parenting sessions – no bullshit, no guilt trips no trying to be perfect just down to earth advice on what evidence suggests works best. Some rainbow families might prefer to take advantage of our Queer specific services.

We offer family therapy, counselling for young people and children, couples dispute resolution and help in developing parenting plans for the Queer community. Our experienced practitioners can assist people to look ahead and avoid misunderstandings in surrogacy and donor arrangements, separation, adoption scenarios, etc
We run lesbian mums and gay dads seminars and groups, including stepfamily seminars throughout the year, plus a wide range of general parenting groups where you will feel very welcome. Check out the calendar to see what is coming up.
We often hear of rainbow families’ experiences with a range of service providers, from the maternity ward, the maternal and child health nurse, to kinder and school. We believe that one of our vital roles is advocating for and creating awareness in our institutions about the need for Queer affirmative and inclusive support services for rainbow families at all stages of the family life cycle. We are always keen to have Queer parents speak up about their experiences, both positive and negative.
